This week seemed to fly by! Anyone else? Like where the heck does the time go? My days are either completely in order or it's pure and utter chaos. It's either one or the other. How does that happen? Oh ya...TWINS. I literally just changed our music playing in our house from country to classical to bring a little peace into our home. Haha... The girls are in a really fun, really busy stage right now! My mom said the other day, "I've realized the girls have Andrew's personality, not yours. You were a piece of cake when you were little, always content. They never stop!" Okay she is totally right. These girls do not stop moving all day long. And by moving I mean screaming while running down the hall chasing each other! June is currently playing on her xylophone and Violet is singing some odd song walking across the room in a half squat. LOL.
They also started climbing on EVERYTHING. All of a sudden I'll look over and they are jumping on our bed, the couch, the coffee table, you name it! They are definitely smart enough to know when they aren't allowed to do something too. So they try to test me all day long. They will literally be reaching to grab something while giving me the stare the whole time to see what I do. Sometimes I feel like one distracts me while the other gets into something they aren't supposed to. Little trouble makers! Wish me luck for when they are 12!! (They are currently both pooping at the same time staring at me...tmi?) They honestly do everything together and at the same time. And every time it still amazes me. They are never in separate rooms either. When they realize the other isn't near them they'll start calling for the other until they are reunited again. Melt my heart!
Let's talk about binkies! Haha, but seriously this has been pretty huge over here this past week. All of a sudden I decided I wanted the girls to stop using their binkies during the day. I was okay with them using them in their cribs, but they were obsessed with having them all day long. So I just started taking them away during the day and slowly stashing them away. A few times Violet would cry for them and I'd say no, binkies are for night night time. I'd also just distract her with something else. It only took about a day for them to adjust and now it's like they never had them! It's actually crazy because now when I say it's time for bed they say "binkie! binkie!" because they know they'll get them in their cribs. Now I just don't know when to pull them out of their cribs. When did you guys cut them out completely?
I'm also trying to change how I give them their milk. I was giving them a sippy cup right when they woke up, when they got up from their nap, and before bed. But now I'm trying to just give them milk with meals. It's kinda tricky but I feel like in a few days they will be adjusted. If your kids are around this age, when did you start giving them their milk with their meals? Also did you just use normal sippy cups? Ours are THESE ones. They are a sippy cup but kinda look like a bottle. I'm wondering if I should just use cups with straws instead. Let me know!!
We've been going to the park a lot lately. There are a lot near us and the girls are obsessed with the swings. They could play at the park for so long and it's a great way for them to get all their energy out (and MY energy)! They are way easier to take to the park now too. A few months ago they weren't great at going up and down the stairs, but now they climb up the play gym so fast and will go down the slide all by themselves! Violet is actually super brave now. They second we get there, she takes off all by herself. June likes to hold my hand most of the time. She just has to warm up a bit then she's fine.
It's so interesting to see their personalities changing. Violet is a mommy's girl and June is total daddy's girl. Violet is definitely more of the stubborn one. She likes things a certain way and is pretty dramatic! June on the other hand is a lot more easy going. Their personalities really balance each other out and it's really cool to watch. When Violet gets upset about something, June will usually give in and give the toy or whatever it is to Violet and just grab something else to play with. It's funny because June loves to get in Violet's 'personal space' which Violet isn't too big on!
(here are the girls' hats)
These two LOVE the dirt. Just being outside is their favorite thing. When I ask if they want to play outside they run to the door yelling, "side! side!" and they will grab their hats to wear. It's pretty cute! They could play in the dirt with rocks and sticks forever. They also love playing with water and just running around chasing Kaila. I do love them playing outside though. I feel like it's so good for everyone, especially kids, to get outside and just be with nature. It's good for the soul!
The cups pictured above are my favorite for smoothies. I get so many questions asking where they are from. You can find them HERE. But also, whenever you are trying to find out where something I mention is from, check my SHOP tab and I link a ton of products there. So these cups are great because they don't spill when you turn them upside down and you can't pull the straws out. The straws are thicker below the lid so they stay put when your kids are using them. I highly recommend! I love giving smoothies to the girls because I can sneak some veggies in. I usually do frozen fruit, frozen spinach, yogurt, avocado (if we have it), and some type of milk or water. Pretty much whatever we have on hand is what I use!
I'll leave you with some pictures from the 4th of July and one I found from last year! I really can't get over how fast they are growing up. I know everyone says soak it all in because before you know it they'll be in high school, but I'm starting to see how that's possible. They learn something new everyday and it's amazing to watch.
